Do you know what your Pacific Vintage IDT is? This is your internal drive time to and from your driveway and the gate, whilst obeying the speed limit of 15 MPH and making full stops at all Stop signs.
Once you know your IDT, you should only imagine- the math- that cutting your internal drive time in half by doubling your vehicle speed to 30 MPH will yield the “maximum” amount of time you might save by driving twice the speed limit. And then consider the smaller fraction of time that you save by driving 25 MPH, 20 MPH or 16 MPH.
Anytime that you are driving inside the gate, the distances between gate and driveway are so short that driving faster than the speed limit will not save enough time to justify the risk of deadly consequence from speeding. Make a complete stop at that one Stop sign between the gate and the driveway. Drive 15 MPH or less.
In places where you find that you tend to go over the speed limit, begin a practice of counting between landmarks- one-mississippi, two-mississippi, three mississippi- and know that if you pass the next landmark early, by one or two counts below the “usual” count, then you’re driving too fast.
You can always determine your vehicle speed by referencing your speedometer. If you are ever unsure about how fast you are driving, it is best to lift your foot off the gas.
